Wooden furniture, with its natural texture and durability, is a classic choice for home decor. However, if not properly cared for, it can easily crack, warp, or fade. Scientific maintenance methods can extend its lifespan and preserve its beauty and practicality.

Daily cleaning requires care. Avoid wiping wooden furniture directly with a damp cloth, as moisture may penetrate and cause swelling or mold. Regular dusting with a soft microfiber cloth is recommended. If stains occur, gently wipe with a small amount of neutral detergent (such as diluted soap and water), then wipe away any remaining moisture with a dry cloth. Avoid using alcohol, strong acids, or strong alkalines to prevent corrosion of the paint.

Environmental control is key. Wood is sensitive to temperature and humidity. Ideally, the relative humidity in the storage environment should be maintained between 40% and 60%. In humid summers, use a dehumidifier to prevent mold. In dry winters, keep furniture away from direct heating or air conditioning, and use a humidifier to balance the air humidity if necessary. Also, avoid exposing furniture to direct sunlight, as ultraviolet rays can cause paint fading or wood cracking. Use curtains to block sunlight and regularly adjust the position of furniture to mitigate damage.

Regular maintenance strengthens protection. Apply wood wax or specialized furniture wax every 3-6 months to fill minor scratches and create a waterproof barrier. Before waxing, thoroughly clean and dry the surface. Apply wax evenly along the wood grain with a soft cloth. Let it sit for a few moments before wiping off any excess. For stubborn scratches, fill in with a repair paste similar in color to the furniture and then lightly polish.

Using these methods, wooden furniture will not only maintain its original texture but also look newer over time, becoming a functional work of art in your home that will stand the test of time.
